A Few Days In

Tags: , , ,

I’ve traded a few emails with Roman Bond, a customer support representative, and my ads are running smoothly. It did take a couple of days for my own banners to start to be shown but that may be because I joined on a weekend. I have no idea how long it would take to be accepted otherwise.
I am disappointed that they seem to be displaying a lot of direct affiliate ads on their network, I guess that is their “vig” since there isn’t a way for a regular of, let’s say Commission Junction, to display affiliate ads through this network.
Ahh well… I should hit 20,000 displays quite soon, then I will decide whether to continue using this promotional method or not… so far a disappointing 0.22% click-through ratio.

I would be more interested if there was a webmaster referral system in place.
Time, and stats, will tell.

Dating Ad Network Testing

Tags: , ,

Over the years I have used banner exchanges to good use and bad.

I’ve seen banners exchanges of 3 impressions shown for 2 impressions of you own banner displayed, and other such display ratios. Too many to go into.

Dating Ad Network offers an 80/100 split of banners being displayed: you show 100, they reward you with 80 displays of your own ad(s) sending traffic to your site(s).

The big thing here is you are trading impressions, not visitors. So make your ad as enticing and as colorful as possible. Odds are good that out of the three banner placement options: Premium (above the fold), Middle (below the fold but not the bottom) and the Bottom yuo will at least get some impressions… the task I am facing is will this bring me visitors?

I am testing the Dating Ad Network banner exchange. This has been passed onto me from the Bone-Fish white label dating service/affiliate program (Note: earn a 25% revenue split promoting this pre-designed service).

This network seems interesting… you have a variety of banner sizes to trade, and a certain control over the banners that will display on which sites you have.

And, the part I like most, you can sell the earned impressions you have for CA$H.

The sales of your impressions leaves something to be desired. 1000 impressions of showing other sites banners on your site could earn you the sweet sum of about $0.40 (40 cents) should you decide to actually sell your impressions rather than use the banner exchange system in place. 3000 to 5000 impressions balances out to about a dollar… not actually inspiring amounts. Not overly encouraging. You’re going to wait a long to to get paid out if you’re suing this as a revenue source.

This is new for me, so watch closely… I’ll tell you my progress over the coming weeks/months. I should have some stats quickly with my 10,000 page views per day.

My most concerns are with the automatic acceptance into the service, so you may be displaying banners and sending other sites traffic and — whoops — your site isn’t within the stated terms of acceptance… nice try, you’re banned… and your impressions are negated.
While on the other hand, you do have to wait for your banner to be approved.
